Also 5'7. I feel like I've always looked fatter than what my weight should say. Same with muscularity honestly. Halfway convinced most manlets like us are just lying about their weight. I'm only 140lbs in pic related and I still have very little ab visibility and love handles. Almost a year ago I was 140lbs and much fatter. I got down to like 130 at one point and looked kinda like you did and went "what the fuck, I was sure I'd have abs at this point".

Just keep on going, honestly maybe a few months of a real lean bulk (half a pound per week or so) will help you look leaner visually. I think we both have shitty ab genetics too, I've only recently started training them hard and am already noticing the difference. Hopefully next time I cut down to 140lbs I'll actually look lean.
Been a couple months or so since I've posted. Doubled my chest and ab volume (and actually committed to doing my ab work) for this mass gain phase as per suggestions from last time. Definitely starting to see some benefit. I did an aggressive mini-cut for ~3 weeks though. Currently 5'7 ~142lbs. Gonna keep bulking for at least another month and judge from there.

Lowkey though despite looking the best I ever have in my life body dysmorphia starting to hit hard. I was much more confident in my body a year ago but when I look at pictures from July of last year I literally look skinnyfat DYEL.
