Shilling Scarlet heros again for a minute. Think I found another reason why I really like it: It cuts a nice middle ground between crunch and fluff.

I apreciate things like tricube tales, But I can never shake the feeling like its all too arbitrary. And on the other side something like traveler felt like things were placed way too constrictively in boxes.

What I like about scarlet heros is that it gives you the hard and fast stat block of hp, armor, to-hit, damage, and ability scores, but also it gives you the means for more flexible stuff in traits which you add to your ability score rolls if you FEEL like its applicable. You have a concreate baseline for shit, but also the ability to flex the rules a little bit this and that way occassionaly by making ability checks and saves. So you can coast on the baseline math and only get creative IF the situation sparks something in you TO be creative. Instead of draining you of creativity in every action.

I think its something sudtle you only really appreciate when you sit back and think about your experience with solo as a whole instead of moment to moment.
