>what does Rarity do that makes AJ behave that way?
How about the entire opening scene where Rarity is increasing the work load for the ponies knocking down branches, and then continually throwing shade at AJ for the rest of the episode?
>you mean after she gobbles down her smore without asking and burps in her face? some shade was well deserved
Again, refer to picrel. Rarity is objectively starting most of the fights here with most of AJ's instigations being rather minor. In terms of who started what, Rarity was being way more aggressive than AJ was. You can only say AJ is starting everything if you completely ignore everything Rarity does, and that's just playing favorites.
>What I dislike is that Applejack never really had a humbling episode even when she should have
But I told you, she did. In fact, she probably has more than anyone not RD. Last Roundup is a huge blow against her ego, and one that isn't even shared by other characters. I don't recall Rarity losing a fashion contest or RD losing a race. Hell all of Applubuck Season is about her getting humbled and having to accept help. Applejack has plenty of episodes humbling her, you're just weirdly opposed to seeing it that way.
>All the other m6 get at least one of those. I mentioned somepony to watch over me, and to your credit you didn't try and defend it, but that would have been a great opportunity for it
Somepony is an episode about AJ learning to be less over protective. Does she need to be hospitalized or something?
>"And you've now admitted that there are interactions that were started by Rarity." is a pretty obvious one.
That's not sophistry. You said everything was started by AJ, I pointed out it wasn't, and then you asserted that Rarity's instigations were fine because AJ deserves it.
>I explicitly mentioned four interactions and used that phrasing as a kind of summary
You mentioned mud masks, which wasn't even a fight in the episode. Then you mentioned AJ'S prissy ghost story, which in the episode was a follow up to Rarity ribbing AJ about the make over, so another situation where it's only an instigation by AJ if you ignore Rarity's role. And you mentioned her go in the rain dare, which again happened after Rarity ribbed AJ unprovoked, and which Rarity immediately got pay back with her own dare. So basically it all comes down to AJ burping in Rarity's proximity, which now makes it okay that Rarity starts a bunch of shit. Even in half of your given interactions of 'AJ starting shit' it's actually Rarity starting shit in the full context of the scene.
Yea they were both immature and catty, but like the poster in picrel says, in order for AJ to be the instigator in every fight, you have to completely ignore Rarity's actions and give her a free pass to act as she pleases.
