They would really have to up the incentive because war is really gay now. Your chances of dying are way higher and when you die its to a drone, arty or missile that you had no agency over in defending yourself.

It's not like the wars of the past where there was some glory to be had, heroes to be made.

I personally wouldn't agree to any military war time service for less then 1million USD per year of service and minimum 500k up front. That's just the bare minimum risk vs reward in modern warfare.

Naturally they will need to shift their focus to robotics to maintain future war potential.
