They need to force their staff to replay Morrowind at least for the writing and sense of wonder/vibe check. Make that the mark, in terms of writing and vibe for the next ES game. Hell force them to replay it using openMW and this modlist which includes Tamriel Rebuilt : https://modding-openmw.com/lists/total-overhaul/
I'm playing that right now and here's a salty fun fact, you can buy slaves. And oh boy is the racism supreme. Since morrowind i really don't think an elder scrolls game is an elder scrolls game without excessive racism and racism actually impacting the player. Not to mention that cherry on top of classism.
Basically Morrowind was the last game that didn't treat the player like a 12 year old with a learning disability who was watching some PBS program. It's main problem was too many simple fetch quests, non interactive environments, NPCs without schedules, combat, basically stuff fixed with modern tech/scripting. Now many of those fetch quests had good writing, but due to technical limitations/time the interactions wasn't great, the options for solving them...not great. Which is why people would say oblivion had great quests because of the unique ways of interacting with those quests (stealth, physics systems, the painting, following the NPC on their schedule, poisoning etc)
For example instead of scrapping the journal system from morrowind.....take the journal system from the India Jones game and SLAM THAT SHIT right into the next elder scrolls game. Holy fuck the level of KINO would be supreme....that and getting denied/charged more for services/products from vendors depending on my characters race, come on bethesda dont pussy out, have a check flag or something that says "morrowind level racism" at game start.
