my female cat gave birth to kittens, and took them outside till they got their sight, when i finally saw them for the first time, they had that same look in their eyes, devoid of human contact.
while my other female cat around the same time birthed and raised her kittens indoors, and their eyes didn't look devoid of human contact.

i think that the further away you are from humanity, the further apart your eyes are, and the more feral you end up being.
