Time for the armor company of the week. Introducing Mitchell & Son Body Armor. Founded in 2018, they sell 8lb AR700 ultra-hardened steel plates rated to NIJ 0101.07 RF2, 3.1lb M855 / M193 / 7.62x39 mild steel core "RF2 Special Threat" (dropping M80), cheat-ringed RF2+ M855A1 plates, and 3-hit M2AP Level IVs - likely also ceramic tile array.
Prices are very cheap. Similar looking company to something like Gilliam Technical Services, but more appealing to the holdouts still using steel plates - it's nothing revolutionary, just another player in the game.
Speaking of, Gilliam just replaced their 9042 with a Model 8002, $349 8lb 1.15" thick M993 / M995 rated ceramic tile array plate. GTS is very upfront about using imported materials. This could be the /pfg/ XSAPI we've been looking for if it passes muster. Huge if.
