>And this is why i walk and public transport instead of commuting to work by car
Good for you. I don't live in the city and don't want to.

Since 2005 when I got my license the sprawl has slowly turned every quiet backroad past farms and empty land I used to enjoy driving into a busy street through the suburbs. Since 2019 my commute to my business in the industrial areas on the outskirts has gone from about 30min to 45min to an hour depending on when I leave. I used to see maybe a two dozen cars on my drive now I'm stuck in traffic for half of it. My only choices are to sell my business and family land and leave or eventually be surrounded by suburbs and stuck in perpetual gridlock.

My family owned this property before me and we've had it for almost 70 years. Used to be rural, now right on the edge of suburban. The city expanded and developers bought up the land between me and the city and made it more urban areas and zero lot line suburbs on the edge of that. Developers will buy the farm between me and the nearest development and turn it into a subdivision in the next 2-3 years then it will be right on the edge of my land. By the time my kids can drive we'll be basically an island in the middle of subdivisions with zero lot line houses, almost none of them have a lot size over 1/4 acre.
