That's just capitalism anon. Video games have always been a product and you usually need to pay for your products.
That doesn't mean they are bad products, even if they are somewhat predatory, like for example, how a LOT of old arcade games are usually very very hard, that is intentionally done for you to lose and spend more quarters on them. We didn't mind at all, because the games were fun and "completing them with one credit" made you king of the arcade which was a great incentive to get better at them.
Also worth mentioning is how these games might have been challenging but FAR from impossible.
