Politics has become just another expression of postmodernism. Most people understand that fundamentally nothing they do or say has any impact on the political direction of their country, and consciously understand that nothing they do or say has any impact on their personal lives within that political system. They just argue over and idolize symbols between each other and form group identity based on consumer goods (ie. whatever meme collection they have saved because it's the closest thing to physical ownership one can have over culture now) because they have no influence on anything that actually creates material culture. Every political stance that gets abstracted is either some relatively ancient empire that no longer exists or some hyper specific futurism niche that can't possibly exist for another century. Nothing in the now matters anymore because nothing cultural exists right now, society has been disconnected from human input and replaced with profit farms that simply require human workers until AI can run them. It's all profit, all the way down, and even the process of people arguing over symbols itself has become just another source of profit as capitalism continues to replace everything in the world with a price tag.
