What no-one is talking about is that we're led to believe we've had that key on us the entire time yet it's only brought up now but PAIMON KNEW ABOUT IT?! Meaning this completely off the rails but still important twist was introduced off-screen.
The dialog treats it as if we're supposed to know about this when all we knew up until now is that we're possibly interdimensional or interstellar travelers that got yeeted into Teyvat by a god.
The travelers fly in the intro, which doesn't exactly broadcast that "yeah we have the damn Millennium Falcon parked in the nearest Denny's parking lot but bro lost the keys" but rather that we have magic powers that circumvent the need for transportation, which was a lot more interesting than "yeah we just pulled up to the function, that white-haired goddess caught us for our fifty consecutive DUIs though."
There isn't the slightest atom of a hint that we have actively misplaced our fuckass space sedan(complete with The Jetsons flying car SFX and electronic car key SFX) at a random McDonald's before this quest.
It makes no sense, I've never felt such immediate tonal whiplash, I can't even remember the last time I was tweaking this hard. And the implications that it brings up are so vast it feels like the main plot doesn't matter.
They didn't sugarcoat it either, just hit us with a semi truck and moved on. They Korean Backdash'd the explanation because fuck you. Never has the word "contrived" better described a plot point like this one.
