I guess the only upside of electronic is that they experiment with timbre much more than metal. So on one side you have the dogshit mandatory rock band nonsense (guitar, bass, drums, vocals) with better composition, and on the other you have dogshit rhythmic repetitions with far greater timbre diversity.
