one thing to consider is kiss marks being magic/hypnotic in nature, it wouldn't have to be controlling, could just be a proof of love, each mark showing how dedicated they are to you everyone looks on in jealous admiration, maybe there could even give you a buff in power making them highly valued.

oh and different colored lipstick marks could have different effects, like say a pink lipstick kiss mark gives you strangth, blue makes you fast and if you get smothered in smooches you get god like power as long as you treat those ladies right.
