British Council closes to visitors after building damaged in Russian attacks

After last night's Russian attacks on Kyiv, the British Council building in the capital has closed to the public.

The site was damaged in the assault overnight, which has killed at least 18 people, according to Ukrainian officials.

In an update shared on social media, the group said its building has been "severely damaged" and has been closed to visitors "until further notice".

"Sadly, one of our guards was injured and is now in hospital," they added, as we had reported at 10.15.

"While responses may be delayed, our work with Ukrainian partners in education and culture continues."
