Yeah the "corporate greed" explanation of inflation was what finally made me leave that shit hole and never come back. Like it's just a total coincidence that the rapid inflation that occurred in this country happened during the exact same time we printed unfathomable amounts of currency? And despite the fact that this has happened countless times in history, to empires ancient and modern, we just happen to be the one exception? Like oh yeah, this is the first time in history where it wasn't money printing that caused inflation, it was actually "corporate greed".
You could even try to go in depth with them, and explain the difference between revenue and profit, and how corporations reporting "record revenue" has nothing to do with profit, and if they're doing a play on corporate greed, they're doing it very poorly considering their margins (even for megacorps) are the slimmest they've been in decades. You think that helps Redditors understand? Fuck no, they just move the goalposts or "drumpf is racist".
What made it even more retarded was they had a valid reason to pin it on Trump. QE really started way back in 2008 but fuck it, if you're gonna make a bad faith argument at least make it a good one, easy way to score points for "your team". The reason they didn't is because these retards literally can't understand that some policies and processes can take years for negative externalities to manifest, but if inflation is happening during the period of time where My Teamâ„¢ is in office, it couldn't have been the fault of the government, therefore it is le "corporate greed".
It's literally retard tier logic. It makes my blood boil.
