I'm not really seeing it. The gimmick was to have a form for every color of that card game Aegiomon was introduced it. In terms of TS, with the type system, the other forms have a gameplay role here too.
I'm just not seeing the problem. It'd be like having something focused on Gammamon without his other forms, or something focused on the Legendary Warriors without all their forms. If a Digimon is going to have MAJOR story significance, everything related to that Digimon should be included.

I also find the whole 'wasted roster slot' argument stupid. It could just as easily be

And if someone thinks that's fine then they're just arguing to have less content to be petty.
