Fantasy setting are always in a perpetual apocalypse. There is always a nigger wizard or sorcerer blowing something up, some faggot cultist trying to summon an ancient eldritch entity and some kike god trying to control reality besides all the usual bullshit like a kingdom wanting to conquer another, gnomes trying to scam everyone by causing some made up economic crisis they can profit from, dorfs holding grudges as much as they hold their shit and elves getting uppity every few hundred years because they remember they were once powerful and go "we wuz" until every other race fuck them back into being tree fuckers.
Basically you can't really advance in a medieval fantasy setting because every day that ends in Y there is some shit happening that kills any progress done the day before.
