Well, by law no. Cause they can still fire you with cause and that would mean no gibs.
But realistically yes, because the process to fire with cause needs write-ups and evidence which takes time.
So the real question is why waste time ( so basically money) on someone who is leaving anyway?
Most of the time you just get told: "Stay at home and enjoy your paid vacation time while job hunting."
