I am not too familiar with him, I know Russian liberals held him in high esteem for his prose until the early 90s when they realized he's a deep state clown. Basically he was a part of Dugin - Letov cultural milieu. Much like in Serbia, albeit on the vaster stage, these people had no idea where to lash out and towards whom so they ended as outcasts and / or coopted by the deep state goons. Limonov was a despicable human though.
