About the same really, all new it really adds is a library and a blacksmith. Still just has a keep, inn, general shop and the one or two houses for NPCs.
>best for performance and compatibility
Town mods ain't really your thing. Most town mods are performance hogs cause they add new buildings, clutter and npcs. You could do Spaghetti's town and city mods, but those are super lightweight and all they really do is add flagpoles, crates and some barrels. JKs does the same but to the max, atleast for the 5 major cities, the smaller settlements get new buildings, walls and tons of clutter. As for compaitiblity, stuff like Great Cities of Winterhold, CoTN and JKs Outskirt mods have patch hubs done by this guy https://next.nexusmods.com/profile/Czasior/mods?gameId=1704 and covers pretty much any mod you can think of that is popular or semi-popular.
