it got worse when the Indonesia reprint was caught by tariffs, the distributor cancelled entirely. Not other boardgames they do, just Splotter. This was right on the heels of losing a lot of money over investing in Horseless Carriage because somebody at the distributor can't think beyond numbers on spreadsheets
The only reason Indonesia is coming to the USA is because a few retailers stepped up and said they'd fulfill all the preorders themselves anyway
I'm still waiting for my preorder since... fuck if I even remember, whenever it was first available

It's a Polyomino puzzle game competing for market demand. It's no less dry than TGZ, BUS, or Antiquity.
The HC initiative track is the best variant of the obligatory Splotter initiative being critical gimmick. It takes several plays to see how to screw with other players factories through manipulating market demands, so it's more abstract than Food Chain in which most people can grok dickery in a few rounds.
