Buggy though. If you buy a gift but reload at any point it becomes unbuyable on reload until you clear all data. Unbuyable, and it's no longer in your inventory. You can mitigate this by only buying gifts on your 3rd time slot after you're positive you want to move on, giving the gift when the girl comes around, and saving after that.

I also just straight up Bad Ended once out of nowhere for no reason. There are several fail states but I got one for zilch. Easy thing to remember is "always do debt repayment"
I'm fairly sure after a bit of grinding you can buy the horse racing book and when you have a decent sum of money savescum a fuckton in order to wipe out your debt in 2 cycles
