>Guy makes mod where you take enemy officers prisoner
>Anon finds this and makes a mod for it that turns Starsector into a porn /vn/ with some rape
>A bunch of modders start to sperg out at this
>The owner of said prisoner mod even takes down his original mod and replaces it thinking it will stop the /vn/ mod (it doesn't).
>At some point someone puts malware on their own mods so if they detect that you have this mod it fucks up your game and your system.
>Whole mod fandom goes on a sperg out because they realise now that people can put malware on their mods and spread them out with barely any supervision
>FS now has to either make sure the modders don't sperg out again or find some way to make sure the mods don't have malware (which either means increasing moderation of the mods to a retarded degree to the point it becomes a kidney stone in development of the game, or let it be and let the whole shitshow burn by itself at the cost of people trying to get away from the modding scene. So far, it looks like they are leaning to the second one more).
The point is, stick to vanila.
Don't touch the mods if you are not willing to risk your shit.
And its completely ok to shit down any modders throat until some other autist inspect their mod like an inquisitor looking for heretics and confirms it is completely ok, then shit on them anyways if they try to change their mod at the last second to weaponize it because they didn't liked someone elses mod.
