MM is my favorite Zelda game but it really was a product of its circumstance. Miyamoto told Aonuma’s team they had one year to follow up OOT. The dread oozing from every surface of the game was real. The hopeless, frazzled NPCs were the programmers self-inserting. I don’t think you could recapture that again. You can make a darker game, but it will never feel as authentic as MM.
