Looking into the past as I've been doing, I think a good part of what I've been noticing is how a lot of folks back in the day sang with their whole bodies or their whole faces. Watch Shout by Tears for Fears, the motherfucker is contorting his whole face to belt that shit out. You gotta really put yourself into the music.
