Gadaffi was the first red pill I ever had.
I was about 13 in 7th grade and our geography class gave us an assignment to do a report on a country of our choosing. I wanted to do North Korea because I wanted a crazy dictatorship; but it got picked first so I went with Libya. I expected to do a paper on a crazy dictatorship; but that wasn't what I ended up writing. The realization that the media had sold me on Libya and Gadaffi being terrible when I really knew nothing about them and that virtually everyone I knew had the same ill informed opinion of this country was the first time I realized that I was being controlled.
