I think many anons are scared of Melee comp because
>People mainly play just to be good
>People are mainly interested in getting gud
>People mainly try to get along and are generally outcast
For /v/ playing a game for sake of it and wanting to get better at it is seen as one of the most embarrassing and cringe thing there is. On top of being on spectrum or being a social outcast makes you a minority on /v/ as well.
I think /v/ is bigger fan of games like CSS/CS2, ASSFAGGOTS, and BR stuff. Anything with a huge normalfag audience but where you never HAVE to communicate. /v/irgins only want to communicate, or rather complain, here. So the idea of old vidya, that is older than like 50% of /v/, having dedicated playerbase and people who play it because they wanna be good and have goals is seen as borderline disgusting thing. Same as speedrunning. Or stuff like collecting vidya. Honestly if someone on /v/ would post some 500+ game collection, anons would laugh at him for wasting his money or being "buycuck" etc.
Sad reality is that /v/ is full of normalfags and failed normalfags who desperately wants to "fit in" on some strange ideal of... Something, idpol related most likely, while making fun of anyone who is passionate about vidya at all.
Imagine someone posting a room with vidya stuff and /v/'s reaction to it.
