What a lot of people don't understand is that the nationwide gun confiscation is logistically impossible. They CAN'T do it. If they could, it would have happened years ago. They've painted themselves into a corner with a promise they can neither walk back on nor complete, and they'll keep kicking this can down the road every year until a Tory government comes to power. Then they'll scream bloody murder in the house of commons about the conservatives wanting to "unleash assault weapons of war and mass murder" upon canadian streets. If there was a liberal government for another decade, it would still be kicked down the road yearly till 2036.
The only advantage they're getting out of the current arangement is starving out and bankrupting canadian firearms retailers and manufacturers; either by saddling them with millions of dollars in unsellable inventory, or by rugpulling them by FRT reclassification of compliant designs they've manufactured months after they hit the market.
