mibr's done this before
>Fer, one of our players, made a mistake. He was wrong. He made comments on his stream that don't reflect our values, and we believe, don't reflect his values either. While Fer is also seen in his stream supporting the fight against racism and racial equality, he is also shown making comments about "good and bad hair." In context, these comments could be interpreted as racially charged. We all know that sometimes language or phrases, when taken to the extreme, have a set of implications or meanings disconnected from the speaker's intention. However, this cannot be an excuse to hide behind them. Fer knows and acknowledged that this type of language fuels a narrative that is wrong and deeply harmful. Instead of hiding, he confronted the issue and apologized. We will fine Fer for his comments and work with him to select organizations that promote racial equality. The proceeds of his fine will go to these organizations. We are also sharing this with the community because it is only by being truly open and vulnerable to mistakes that individuals and groups can truly learn and grow together. Just as we develop physically through hard, sometimes painful training, we can only develop as an equal society by putting in the hard work to improve. It is unacceptable for all the pain to be borne by the oppressed while the oppressor hides. MIBR hopes the entire community can learn and grow from this incident and recognize that even though we support equality and racial justice, we also sometimes make mistakes and end up contributing to the problem. We must use these moments to grow together.
