Depends on the build. Thing is, you're most likely pathing through Up Close anyway, and Target Neutralised is such a strong node that taking it barely qualifies as pathing tax, so RJA is right there.
The weirdest thing I've started doing in aurics is picrel. Forceful gives more than enough attack speed all on its own, and the shotgun spends a lot of time reloading so the damage buff is almost always active when I want it. Similarly, Imposing Force is powerful enough that I don't consider it pathing tax to grab the reload aura, which is very powerful specifically for the shotgun.

From what I can tell, the dog has an innate +100% global damage modifier or something, meaning its bleed stacks deal double damage. I also believe bleed is attributed to the first instance, so I assume you are correct that at least some damage is owed to others increasing or otherwise keeping up the stacks. But unless I'm mistaken about the dog mechanics, you're also doubling everyone else's bleed damage if you're the first to apply it.
I'd have to go and test this some more in the psykhanium to fully confirm, but the overall reason doesn't matter much to me when I can squeeze over 100k damage out of a single point, that I can't really get elsewhere. It's not so much about TTK for me, but more about the fact that I'll have teammates that deal less than 300k damage, and the dog on its own easily hits 200k+. Remember that the dog's damage is partially attributed to YOUR melee damage, and as a rule of thumb, you need to double the reported companion damage to get close to the true number. With some investment it's unironically a better teammate than most auric shitters.
