Didn't exist. Games used to pretty much all be passion projects to varying degrees. Some were deeply flawed and technically "bad", but the algorithmically devised, committee approved, AI "enhanced" slop that you see nowadays literally did not exist.

I don't understand your logic. If you already have a high end PC then you understand how much better every single game runs on it. Nowadays modern operating systems require zero PC knowledge to use and are reliable for gaming. What does the Xbox offer that your PC doesn't? Modern consoles are basically low to mid end PC's anyway. They all use x86 architecture and the same graphics cards, they offer nothing unique in terms of hardware.
