The lead's brain has been fried from both sides: one by alcoholism, love and migrating from a dead post-industrial shithole to a dying post-industrial shithole, and the other by spending a decade talking about stupid shit on Twitter.
So one day you have a very sober depiction of suicidal ideation, doomed love and people metaphorically cannibalizing their own future, the other day you get hit with literal HE'S RIGHT BEHIND ME ISN'T HE moments, Chapo Trap House-tier bullshit or caricaturized depictions of people that are only caricaturized because people behave like actual fucking caricatures on Twitter.
Still, it is offset a bit because the characters that aren't supposed to be Twitter personalities are written very well. Ladies love Harry, Kim, Jean and Disco in general not because those characters are ultrasex or because they spout the good opinions or whatever, but because you can't help but sympathize with them. Personally, I had fun just going full Officer Nick Mullen and collecting armor, weaponry and magnesium-based stimulants for heavy duty detective work.
