I think that'd actually be great as a story. Provided Korra actually learns she was wrong in the end, its like the inverse of the spirits teaching the living person something.

A story where the new Avatar is trying to drop some knowledge on the Old Avatar, but neither knows what should be done, so they need to go on an adventure and find out. That'd be a really fun story.
