I can see that, but that's parts a plus for me. It's an alternate UC where Zeon won the war, but you're only seeing it from the civilian viewpoint. You want to know where everyone and everything is this time, what the political situation is and who is and isn't still alive, but you're only getting drip fed that information bit by bit. Because that's just the setting, not what the story's actually about. I like it a lot.

It's kinda like G-Witch. All these political plays and sinister plots going around, but the story's initially focused on these kids at mobile suit school, with the darkness of the setting slowly getting closer and closer until it bursts into their relatively carefree lives in a big, terrifying way. And also like G-Witch, it doesn't really pay off or tie itself off in a satisfying way...but it's still very nice while it lasts.
