Secondly, the SD spec already allows implementation of DRM so that has nothing to do with it. It's all down to cost and complexity. A plastic disc with a microscopic amount of aluminum is always going to be cheaper and faster to produce that some tempermental storage standard. Then you get into the issue of FAT which couldn't even hold an HD quality movie until somewhat recently without splitting the file, which means more work to come up with another standard. It's only recently that the cards themselves have even become cheap enough to make this possible. Your pedantic freedomfagging doesn't divorce you from the laws of economics.
