This is meme gnosticism.
Some actual ancient gnostics believed IAO (YHWH) was just but not good; others believed IAO was antagonistic, but he was replaced/overtaken by the more benevolent IAO SABOATH (YHWH tsevut). In this scheme, IAO Sabaoth is the God of the prophets and possibly parts of Psalms, and IAO is the God of the Pentateuch and early history, the one who commanded mass murder.
It was generally more complicated than just "YHWH bad".
You'll note that IAO Saboath replacing IAO/Iaoldaboath parallels Zeus usurping the more strange and inhuman Cronos.
All Christianity is a synthesis of Jewish and Hellenistic philosophy; Gnosticism tends to lean harder in that direction. Gnosticism emerged from Egypt which had an environment of syncretism, borrowing traditional Egyptian elements with Hellenistic philosophy and occasionally Semitic ones.
