I live in a middle class town that’s just outside of the big city where the jobs are, but a bit cheaper. 70% of the gym-goers seem to be ‘young professional’ types, basically 28-40 year old dyels, quite a few of them asian or indian. The rest is made up of some fat treadmill turks, some middle-aged women that go for the group courses, stuff like that.
It’s a bit soul-sucking due to the crowd that visits the gym (and the interior design), but it has all equipment I need and it’s pretty quiet, even on peak hours (before, after work). As soon as I feel like I break out of skinnyfat jail (at least three quarters on my way to 1/2/3/4), I’ll probably move on to something with a better ‘lifting culture’.
