Had some similar situations with a raid group and a TTRPG group.
The dads were generally good guys, and we didn't necessarily not want to play with them. But they had extremely strict schedules because they couldn't do anything until the kids went to bed or were constantly being interrupted their wives/kids in the evening. By time some were free, they could only play for an hour or 2 themselves because of work. They also didn't have time to gear up or prep for sessions because of the kids.
The raid group ended up turning the dads down and didn't brother trialing them because the group didn't want to carry anyone. And also wanted to prog more than a couple hours of week. TTRPG group tried to make things work but after a couple of months of late starts or having to cancel because of something with the kids, the DM canceled the campaign and some players won't start a new one with the dads.
In both instances, the dads were upset because either no one wanted to do anything with them or they were being excluded. And I get it sucks being the odd one out and when you're parent, you gotta take care of the kids as they should be your top priority. All of this is a sign that they are GOOD dads but at the same time, it doesn't mean the rest of us losers need to always accommodate for their lack of free time.
