Nexon wanted to use Blue Archive to springboard the launch of their new Vtuber mascots. Nobody knew this is what was coming at the time though. Nexon advertised in-game with a silhouette of a girl with a countdown with a second silhouette to be revealed later. Everyone was excited and speculating. Then the countdown ended and was a random company vtuber. The result was catastrophic. The backlash was so severe and so persistent that even the game's director spent the following 8 hours personally trying to run damage control. And in the end even that wasn't enough and they had to announce they were shitcanning the entire thing on the 9th hour of her reveal. They didn't even reveal who the second silhouette was going to be.
It was an amazing disaster the likes of which there are few.
