That's all true to some degree, but the root problem is the way having an internet-connected camera in everyone's pockets brews this microcosmic psychopathy in people. Any unflattering moment of yours can be recorded and shared with every other pseudo-psycho on Earth. It is a billions-strong hive, a longhouse, a clique even. Anons talk about times the internet or online communities turned to shit because of Eternal September or Eternal Summer and such, but socially the internet has become Eternal Highschool. You can't loosen up unless you're at home or somehow utterly alone in public.
I could understand the judgemental attitude if everyone else was reading books, listening to music, or doing something productive, but you know most of them are idly scrolling garbage, which is easily more brainrotting than vidya, as the effort needed for a reward is lower. This is from someone who barely plays games anymore because most of them are gay and lame, or require a console or the latest version of Windows.
Fuck, I'm gonna go blast Blind Guardian and be cringe in peace. Quote post me with a fedora picture at your leisure.
