Having a plan at all is a good step. Even if they're far off, keep trying to achieve some actual tangible progress towards that goal, even if they're the tiniest of steps. A small achievement is still bringing you one step closer to a meaningful difference in your living situation.

Keeping busy is a good way to feel distracted, if nothing else. While you're in the muck it might not seem appealing, but you might want to go back and try out some older interests and see how you feel about them. Coming back to something you enjoyed after a long break can offer a fresh perspective on it, and who knows, maybe it'll rekindle an interest.
