I wasn't impressed with Higurashi when I read it at the behest of VN friend, and I really doubt Umineko is any better. Maybe I missed something because I read the official translation, but I don't want to dig for an obscure fan translation nor do I care about learning Japanese. Considering that this was one of the "greats" according to VN friend, I have no interest in trying another VN.
