Thanks.
I'm going to shill the system I'm going to use quickly. I came across Chronica Feudalis a while ago and it seems really good and flavorful for historical games. It is a system utilizing small dice pools of (usually) 1-3 dice, and uses dices from D4 to D12, and D20 for some special occasions. Characters have skills, tools (everything from weapons or clothes to animals or retinue) and aspects they can use for challenges, and each of them have value of a die. If any die in challenge is over target number (4 is the default), it is passed. Aspects of characters can also be invoked for character's detriment, which grants points of Ardor that can be used to improve results.
The characters are created through a lifepath system, where starting skills and equipment is determined by three mentors the character had prior to adventuring, and Aspects of characters should also reflect that life.
