If the rest of the EU does not uphold rules, the best we can do is leaving the schengen area to spite them. If we don't uphold the same rules, we can be booted from the Schengen area by them. Schengen is important for us for two reasons: one is that because of the Treaty of Trianon, a third of the Hungarian population leaves in neighbouring states.Two, is that it allows emmigration, which is vital to the survival of any political party (even if it is bad for the country) since it allows malcontents to just leave, rather than build up pressure here.
