Active-duty personnel are generally prohibited from participating in partisan political activities, such as speaking at partisan gatherings, campaigning, or engaging in fundraising. They cannot wear their uniform while participating in a protest or demonstration that is political in nature.
Military members can express personal opinions on political issues, vote, and attend political events as spectators when not in uniform. However, their speech must not be contemptuous of public officials or bring discredit upon the Armed Forces.
