no the ending is just bad. Ignoring that he moved the goalpost somewhere midseries, the biggest problem is Deku himself is a shit character. Sacrificing everything yet still enthusiastically tackling the day as a teacher, which had no foreshadowing whatsoever by the way, in an effort to continue to make the world better would have been a fine end. That's not what actually happened though. The whole final chapter has this air of melancholy and letdown that's sobering as hell until the heartwarming scene with platekid. Even that would have been fine enough but the all might and suit fake out undermines all of it. It's like visual confirmation that he was living a life of cope while doing nothing to change it. It's a completely dogshit sendoff with the only hope people had was the possibility of bonus chapters. The prologue drops with some much needed world fleshing out and updates. Then Hori drops the most heavy handing, ass covering tell don't show spiel about how Deku was totally satisfied with his career and he was over being a hero and all that. It's insulting
I'm sure other people have different problems with it, but Deku's portrayal and development is the most disappointing thing about the series to me and how his most "inspiring" aspect is he keeps trying even though he looks pathetic is some of the most backhanded complementary shit I've ever seen
