Why do people keep spreading this misinformation? Zoro cut King with his flames up so he started having to block and Zoro shit talked him for it. You can see the flames up while he's doing it. In the very next page Zoro cuts through King's fire dragon that was compared to magma, sword, wing, and chest all in one go using Ryuma's attack from Monsters.

Zoro had a massive bloom that fight. He did figure out how King's powers worked too but in the end he passed the flames.
