well they wanted to redefine the term "socialism" in a right wing sense, also a lot of the early nazis were actually genuinely socialist but Hitler purged all of them, example being ernst rohm

in the end nazi germany was a mixed economy, the government intervened a lot in economic affairs but private businesses ruled everything so.. it was kinda like modern day china (not socialist)
