There are SERIOUS concerns about the dangers of AI, the problem is that your average 4chan/reddit/twitter dipshit can't formulate an argument to save their lives. Hell, you can probably prompt an AI model a better fucking argument than most people can.

The defense of AI is not that it's great in its own right, it's that people are fucking stupid, social media has exacerbated that issue, and now we're in a cultural rut that we desperately need to exit out of.
