Eutrophication is part of the high school curriculum in Brazil. All kids in Brazil receive an explanation on how food or just fertilizer sliding with the rain can kill a river.

I'm sure it's not in India, since Indians would be forced to realize that they have been systematically killing their lakes for 1000 years.
